Stress Busters
Here are five sure-fire stress busters to keep your heart healthy and help you cope with impending deadlines and other work demands.- Keep your work space organised.
You hate it when you can’t find things. That’s why you should try to de-clutter. It’s similar to cleaning out your closet. Even if you like a little bit of clutter, keep the mess organised. Label everything; use those post-its and cute stationery that you bought and always thought were lovely but never had the chance to actually use. It’s stress-busting just looking at pretty things. - Blasting music and shaking your booty in your office chair.
Whether you are a classical music lover or a rock fan, buy yourself a trusty pair of earphones and pump up the volume. There’s just something about humming to your favourite tune and shaking your booty that creates a calming, if not exhilarating effect. Do make sure that you have a trusted colleague to nudge you should you get too carried away. - Pamper yourself to up your confidence level.
Anything that relaxes and makes you drop like a pin – imagine those sleep-inducing therapeutic aroma candles – gets the thumbs up from us. Pampering doesn’t have to be expensive; a cute massaging cushion, a warm water bag or a good bubble bath is enough to cheer you up and leave you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle anything that comes your way. - Distractions can have a calming effect.
Decorate your un-cluttered work space (refer to Point No. 1) with pictures of your loved ones so that when a panic attack arises, you can take comfort in looking at familiar faces, which could also be a source of motivation. If you have a green thumb, get an office plant. It could be mood-uplifting. - Heart your family and friends!
Never underestimate the support of a strong circle of family and friends. Show your appreciation for your loved ones. Go out shopping and buy something for them or treat them to a session of pampering. Plan workout sessions together; exercise helps in reliving stress too.
